Laser resurfacing, also called a laser peel is a treatment used to resurface damaged skin to produce a more even skin tone. This treatment is very effective for fine lines around the eyes, marionette lines or other lines around the mouth, facial scars due to an accident or injury, acne scars, age spots, and areas of sun damage. Men and women are good candidates for laser resurfacing, particularly those with lighter or fair skin tones. The treatment is most effective on healthy skin that is not oily.

Laser resurfacing may not be suitable for patients with darker skin tones, including olive, brown, or black skin. It may not be appropriate for patients with an active skin infection or prone to abnormal, keloid-like scarring.
